The Black and Red Notebook. Show all albums by David Kitt.

David Kitt, the Dublin-based songwriter (or song-borrower, on this occasion) claims that "the idea was to get under the surface of other people's songs" - but that is easier said than done, and pulling off a successful cover can be every bit as difficult as writing a song from scratch. Reducing the Beatles' incandescent And Your Bird Can Sing to a muttering folk song with a dodgy instrumental bit on the end hardly sets the bar very high, while turning Thin Lizzy's Dancing in the Moonlight into an offensively pleasant Donovan pastiche seems merely futile

The rest of the album features David Kitt's take on eight songs from many different styles, some of which he already plays in his live set. Everything from rap to reggae to REM to The Beatles is included, though it is predictably a hit-and-miss endeavour. At times, the listener gets the impression that Kitt is playing for his own enjoyment and not ours. These kinds of releases do strange things to an act's chart performance

Not Fade Away (David Kitt album). Not Fade Away is the fifth album recorded by Irish singer-songwriter David Kitt, and was released on August 18, 2006. The album was also nominated for the Choice Music Prize as an album of the year but lost out to The Divine Comedy's album Victory for the Comic Muse. The album spawned the popular single, "Say No More", which received extensive airplay on national radio in summer 2006.

David Kitt (born 1975 in Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish musician. He is the son of Irish politician Tom Kitt. He has released six studio albums to date: Small Moments, The Big Romance, Square 1, The Black and Red Notebook, Not Fade Away and The Nightsaver. Kitt grew up surrounded by music, as his father and uncles formed a successful touring folk group when he was young. He began performing live sets while studying at Trinity College, Dublin, where he completed a postgraduate course in music technology. He then recorded and mixed the eight tracks of his debut release, Small Moments, in his bedroom, releasing it in August 2000. This album was followed up less than a year later with The Big Romance, in May 2001. This album achieved double platinum sales in Ireland.
