The resulting REFLECTIONS plays like a film score-not surprisingly, given Hadjidakis's experience as a composer of just such works-with epic instrumental sweeps and passages of quiet melancholy. Many of the tracks, such as "Orpheus," "The Day," and "Kemal," incorporate the folk melodies of Hadjidakis's homeland while maintaining a baroque psychedelic touch.

Reflections is a 1970 album composed by Manos Hatzidakis and performed by New York Rock & Roll Ensemble. The album was originally composed in New York City where Manos Hatzidakis was living since 1966. The lyrics are in English. In 1993 the album was re-released with new lyrics in Greek, which were written by Nikos Gatsos and performed by Aliki Kagialoglou. In 2005 an adaptation of the album by the Greek band Raining Pleasure was released.

The album spent well over a year on the Top 40 Artist Album Charts and has been certified Gold. It spawned three airplay hits in Greece, the biggest of which, "Fake," has become a pop and rock radio staple, and has been used in several commercial spots as well as in the soundtrack of the film "The Best of Times" directed by the Taiwanese director Tso-chi Chang. Fake" was followed by the hits "Capricorn" and "Only Through You". In winter of 2004, the band embarked on its first mini-tour in Germany while in a studio in Cologne to record a new version of the classic album Reflections (originally by Manos Hadjidakis and the New York Rock & Roll Ensemble). Raining Pleasure's Reflections was released to immediate critical acclaim. The album was introduced to media at a concert at St Paul's Anglican Church in Athens. The album has been certified gold.

The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble was a rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, whose music was described as "classical baroque rock". The group performed wearing classical musician's attire, white tie and tailcoat (not tuxedo). The band was formed by three Juilliard students Michael Kamen, Marty Fulterman (now known as Mark Snow) and Dorian Rudnytsky, plus two rock musicians Brian Corrigan and Clif Nivison.
