Schmilco is the tenth studio album by Chicago-based alternative rock band Wilco and was released on September 9, 2016. Wilco announced the album on July 19, 2016, and released two songs, "Locator" and "If I Ever Was a Child". The album's announcement came a little more than a year after their previous studio album, Star Wars. I think, in Schmilco, they are trying too hard to be too diverse or too challenging, yet without the hooks that I really appreciate from them. Wilco recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of their album Star Wars by sharing a new track called Locator. Wilco's 11th album, 2015's Star Wars, was a playful and angular set of noisy pop and pop-friendly noise, and it seemed fitting that it literally appeared out of nowhere, with the band sending it out as a free download without any advance warning one July afternoon.
