Belafonte is the second studio album by American recording artist Harry Belafonte, released by RCA Victor in late 1955. Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) Lyrics. Day o! Day o! Daylight come and me wanna go home Day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day o Daylight come and me wanna go home. Work all night on a drink a rum (Daylight come and me wanna go home) Stack banana till the morning come (Daylight come and me wanna go home). Come mister tally man tally me banana (Daylight come and me wanna go home) Come mister tally man tally me banana (Daylight come and me wanna go home)

Belafonte's version used lyrics adapted by Irving Burgie and William Attaway. Attaway was a novelist and songwriter who was friends with Belafonte. Burgie and Attaway wrote most of the songs on the Calypso album. This song was first recorded in 1952 by Edric Conner, a musician from Trinidad who sang it with his band The Carribeans as "Day De Light.

Day-O (Banana Boat Song) Original Mix. Исполнитель: Harry Belafonte. Day-o, day-o Daylight come and we want go home Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o Daylight come and we want go home. Day-o, day-o Daylight come and we want go home Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o Daylight come and we want go home Work all night on a drink of rum (Daylight come and we want go home) Stack banana 'til the morning come (Daylight come and we want go home)

This two-disc set combines highlights from his long career, including his biggest hit, "Banana Boat Song (Day O)," a defining version of Irving Burgie's gorgeous "Jamaica Farewell" from 1956, and beautifully arranged art/folk versions of "Scarlet Ribbons" and "Shenandoah," among many other gems. Innovative, intelligent, and unceasingly creative, Belafonte is long overdue for a critical reappraisal.
