Maroon Commandos is a musical group from Kenya. It is a military band belonging to 7th Kenya Rifles Battalion (Kenya Army Infantry) of the Kenya Army. They are based at the Langata Barracks in Langata, Nairobi. The album Kenya Unite was written in the response of the 2007–2008 Kenyan post-election crisis. David Kombo is the current band leader, who joined the band in the late 80s and is the longest serving current band member (as of 2010)  . Hasira ni Hasara (1986). The maroon beret in a military configuration has been an international symbol of airborne forces since the Second World War. It was officially introduced in 1942, at the direction of Major-General Frederick "Boy" Browning, commander of the British 1st Airborne Division. It was first worn by the Parachute Regiment in action in North Africa during November 1942. Although coloured maroon, the beret of the British Parachute Regiment is often called the "red beret.
