Kiepura began his education by studying law in Warsaw, but soon switched to voice studies with Waclaw Brzezinski and Tadeusz Leliwa, and later Garbin in Milano. August 15, 1966, Harrison, New York) was a Polish singer (tenor) and actor. He was born of a Jewish mother and a Polish father. He died at the age of 64 in Harrison, New York of undisclosed causes and was buried in Powązki Cemetery, Warsaw.

Jan Kiepura introduced himself as, "The Great Kierpura," to the annoyance of similarly temperamental individuals. His mother was Jewish. He had a brother, Władysław.
