Crash is the fifth studio album by British synthpop band The Human League, released on 8 September 1986. Crash would provide the band with their second US number-one single, "Human", the same year. It was produced by the American production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who also wrote several tracks. After spending two years recording their fourth album Hysteria, which met with only moderate commercial success, the band struggled to record further material.

The Human League in the Jam & Lewis environment sounded exactly like jumping at the very last minute assisting on a number of "Control"-era leftovers. At best, "Crash" remains as blurred as the album's sleeve - slick production but otherwise mediocre, deceptively catchy and ultra-hyped with Phil Oakey's cool voice being the only trace of what's left of The Human League up to that point. Maybe "Crash" would have made more sense if actually released as his solo album (following on from his collaboration LP with Giorgio Moroder).

Crash was the fifth album from The Human League. At the behest of A&M Records exec John McClain, the band enlisted the help of producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to produce their album. Though their collaboration yielded a hit with Human, the recording process was fraught with creative disagreements. The band complained of Jam & Lewis having final creative decisions and favoring their own songs over those the band had written. Jam & Lewis were frustrated with the band’s musical ability and lack of cooperation.

The Human League had had international success with "Don't You Want Me" from the 1981's "Dare," followed by 1982's "Fascination" that had the chart maker "(Keep Feeling) Fascination. After 1984's "Hysteria" failed to make a dent on the pop or dance charts, the group teamed up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis - a duo making headways with Janet Jackson, Alexander O'Neal, Cherelle, and other artists - and released "Crash
