Formed in Cleveland in 2006, The Sidekicks made their debut with 2007’s So Long, Soggy Dog and followed the album with 2009’s similarly punk-influenced Weight of Air. The band embodied a more melodic sound with 2012’s Awkward Breeds, and fully showcased their tightly honed pop sensibilities on Runners in the Nerved World. As it turns out, growing older can be even weirder. For musicians birthed in the fervently youth-centric world of punk rock.

A sidekick is a slang expression for a close companion or colleague (not necessarily in fiction) who is, or generally regarded as, subordinate to the one he or she accompanies.

Trusted sidekicks in a famous film franchise also become some of the most beloved characters of all time because the audience identifies with them more than the hero. A right-hand man or woman offers support, gives advice, loyal to the protagonist and just plain awesome. Other times they turn to the dark side and turn into a cinematic villain, adding a twist or element of surprise to an otherwise boring plot. One thing remains the same, however, when it comes to supporting characters - they are all scene-stealers.
