Live at Ebbets Field: May 13, 1976. Due to the success of his back-to-back appearances at Denver's Ebbets Field club in 1974, Tommy Bolin chose to premiere his new Tommy Bolin Band at the venue in May of 1976. Included in this top-notch band were ex-Vanilla Fudge keyboardist/singer Mark Stein and drummer Narada Michael Walden (nowadays a producer), while Norma Jean Bell (saxophone) and Reggie McBride (bass) rounded out the group.

Tommy Bolin was born in Sioux City, Iowa and began playing with a band called The Miserlous before he was asked to join another band called Denny and The Triumphs, in 1964 at the young age of thirteen. The band included Dave Stokes on lead vocals, Brad Miller on guitar and vocals, Tommy Bolin on lead guitar, Steve Bridenbaugh on organ and vocals and finally Denny Foote on bass & Brad Larvick on drums  . Live at Ebbets Field 1976. Tommy Bolin Archives – TOMMY BOLIN DEAD AT 25 OF OVERDOSE, ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE, JANUARY 13, 1977 By Charles M. Young (submitted by David Polhemus). Thomas Richard "Tommy" Bolin (August 1, 1951 – December 4, 1976) was an American-born guitarist who played with Zephyr (from 1969 to 1971), The James Gang (from 1973 through 1974), and Deep Purple (from 1975 to 1976).

Bolin is know by way too few guitarists and rock fans out there. His playing is simply put, phenomenally versatile and flat-out fun. It seems Bolin never took himself too seriously, easily throwing down the blues, rocking out with the best Hendrixian riffs of his day, and even playing Gomez-styled jazz rock fusion. Audio CD (May 13, 1997). Number of Discs: 1. Format: Live. I am big fan of Tommy Bolin. I bought the Live at Ebbets Field 1974 album and thought it was great. I was expecting the live 1976 to be pretty much the same, which was an all out great rock record with plenty of improving. While I am very impressed with the music on this disc, the quality of the vocals and guitar leave much to be desired. Teaser is a great jam, but you can hardly hear Tommy's singing or his guitar work.

Notes

This recording is taken from the master radio broadcast tape from one of the first performances of The Tommy Bolin Band. This historic first lineup of Tommy’s solo band put on a high energy, unique live performance that not only showcased Tommy, but also Narada Michael Walden on drums and vocals, and original Vanilla Fudge keyboardist and vocalist Mark Stein.
