Released July 12, 2011. Magic Colors: The Lost Album Tracklist. 1. It's a Happening World Lyrics.

Lesley Gore has always gotten a bum rap. After scoring a on her first effort, the New Jersey teenager reeled off an impressive string of Quincy Jones-produced Brill Building hits while simultaneously pursuing her college education. After the hits subsided and Jones moved on, Lesley enjoyed a 1967 chart comeback with a couple of Bob Crewe productions that placed her squarely in the genre now fondly called Sunshine Pop. The comeback was short-lived, however, and Mercury Records shelved a planned album entitled Magic Colors. The world was deprived of a veritable Sunshine Pop masterpiece

However, all 25 of these cuts have been released. So this is really more of an anthology of Gore's late-'60s recordings (with most of the bonus cuts taken from 1968-1969 singles) than it is the unearthing of a "lost," or at least unheard, album by the singer. 3. Where Can I Go. 4. Brink Of Disaster. An impressive 19 hits on Billboard magazine's Hot 100 rank Lesley Gore as second only to Brenda Lee as America's top-selling solo female recording star of the 1963-1967 timeframe. Those chart records exist on a plethora of CDs, but not on this one, which kicks off with the 10 tracks scheduled for her lost "Magic Colors" album and concludes with 15 others, all recorded between 1967 and 1969. Lesley's releases were no less excellent than her earlier work, yet somehow these were overlooked by the masses.

Lesley Gore epitomized the sound of American pop in the early-to-mid 1960s with hits like It’s My Party and its answer/follow-up, Judy’s Turn to Cry. For my money, there may never have been a greater one-two punch in pop than that pair, produced by Quincy Jones and arranged by Claus Ogerman. But where was the teen pop queen by the Summer of Love? The . s Ace label answers that question with the June release of Magic Colors: The Lost Album with Bonus Tracks 1967-1969, unearthing a lost LP and a full complement of bonus tracks. It’s My Party and Judy’s Turn to Cry were just the start.
