She started her career as an actress and during the 1950s she started singing professionally, eventually abandoning her career as an actress in the 1960s. She recorded more than 35 discs.

Los Maracaibos is a music ensemble from Venezuela, overheard an evening by Hector Miranda, the leader of Los Calchakis. He liked their music som much, that he introduced them to ARION and the result was this CD, on which Hector is the artistic director. The CD contains 23 songs and tunes providing a comprehensive view of Venezuelan music. The "Maracaibos" have added the flute which is played in such a stanning and bewitching fashion, that it becomes the most Venezuelan of instruments. The cuatro, a small guitar with four strings, was probably originally from the Canary Islands, where there is a similar instrument called the timple. It may have been introduced several centuries ago by sailors who arrived in the Carribean, following the maritime currents.
