Through the Eyes is the first major label studio album by the American rock band Flaw. The album was released on October 30, 2001 on Universal, Uptown and Republic Records. Described as nu metal, Through the Eyes has melodic vocals, aggressive guitar riffs, screaming, melodic instrumentation and lyrics drawn from the life of vocalist Chris Volz. Flaw began in 1996, when the vocalist Volz answered an advertisement placed by band guitarist Jason Daunt for another guitarist.

Flaw is one of the few groups to eschew post-grunge à la Creed and modern-day rap-metal, preferring to instead play straightforward metallic rock that relies less upon gimmickry and more on musical prowess and aggression, making the group peers of latter-day Metallica and Staind. Vocalist Chris Volz's powerful and melodious singing voice leads almost all of the tracks, with solid yet unspectacular guitars and rhythms layered underneath his emotive voice.

Louisville's FLAW will release its new album, "Vol IV: Because Of The Brave", on July 19 via Pavement Entertainment. Amid the rocking hooks, the band offers songs with a mixture of personal, patriotic, and heartfelt lyrics. With Chris Volz at the helm, FLAW's story began with the independent release of home-grown albums "American Arrogance" (1996), "Flaw" (1998) and "Drama" (2000). It was the songs on these recordings that garnered the attention of Republic Records, who signed the band and released the breakthrough "Through The Eyes".
