The album touches on more genres than any Death Grips project beforehand (including the hyper-intense electronica of Steroids on Disappointed), and does so while having a consistent feeling of vile grossness. I feel like I need to take a shower while listening to this, which is definitely not a bad thing.

Overall, Year of the Snitch feels like a personal experiment for Death Grips, but tilting towards a more mainstream sound. Not to say that the band has compromised its experimental attitude, but there is a definite leaning towards a more straightforward form, which in this case arrives with the heavier implementation of rock music motifs. Death Grips have not lost it yet. This is Death Grips most diverse album yet in my opinion, with a smorgasbord of different sounds. Many tracks on here take inspiration from different genres of music, with a Death Grips spin on them; such as rave music, arena-rock, punk-rock, jazz-rock, more traditional hip-hop, and probably more I couldn't pin-point myself.
