World of Sand is the third album by Servant, released in 1982 on Rooftop Records. World of Sand was the debut album for Rooftop Records, the new media arm of the Highway Missionary Society (the band's parent organization). The title comes from a line in the last song: Stylistically, this album would mark the beginning of a move away from the blues rock/classic rock style of their first two albums, toward the synth-infused new wave styles that would mark their latter works.

Mastodon’s seventh studio album, Emperor of Sand, begins with a Curs. nd for good reason. Modern metal’s fiercest four-piece suffered a litany of tragic personal events leading up to the album’s writing process. It only takes until the halfway point of Emperor of Sand to realize how progressive the album is. The unruly exploration of Hinds' and Kelliher’s guitar melodies is as expansive as the desert, met with all the plateaus, pitfalls and shifting footholds one would encounter on a nefarious march.

An interesting collection, Grains of Sand is not a Mission album proper, but rather a chance for the listener to hear the other songs that were recorded for Carved in Sand. The single "Hands Across the Ocean" is a nugget of pop brilliance that hints at what came next for Wayne Hussey. Most of the tracks are solid, but covers of "Love," and "Mr. Pleasant" are better off as B-sides
