This is the Lenny & Squiggy originally of Laverne & Shirley fame. Michael McKean (Lenny) and Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) later appeared together in Spinal Tap and The Folksmen. The keyboard player, Murphy Dunne, played with The Blues Brothers. Ming The Merciless (2) was once purported to be Kiss drummer Peter Criss (without "cat" costume and make-up), though Criss denied it was him. McKean has since stated it was drummer Don Poncher. Comes with fold-out color poster.

Michael McKean and David Lander created the characters of Lenny and Squiggy while both were theater students at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lander told an interviewer in 2006 that they created the characters while high on marijuana. After graduating, they continued to perform the characters in live comedy routines before joining the show's cast. In 1976, Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams released an album, performed in character, titled Laverne & Shirley Sing, which contained some original songs along with some 1950s and 1960s standards. The album was originally released on Atlantic Records. On November 11, 2003, Collector's Choice released it on CD. In 1979, Michael McKean and David Lander followed suit with the album Lenny and the Squigtones, also performed in character, featuring mainly original songs penned by McKean
Lenny and the Squigtones is a fictional musical group headed by Michael McKean and David Lander, the two actors who played the characters Lenny and Squiggy on the television series Laverne & Shirley. The group's eponymous debut album, Lenny & Squiggy Present Lenny and the Squigtones, was released on the Casablanca label in 1979. Recorded live at the Roxy in Hollywood, they perform parodies of 50's rock ballads ("Night After Night," "Creature Without a Head")
Lenny and the Squigtones were a fictional band on Laverne & Shirley made up of Lenny Kosnowski (Michael McKean), and Squiggy Squiggman (David L. Lander). If Only I Had Listened to Mama". The Jolliest Fat Man". In 1979, Casablanca Records released an album with the fictional band, titled Lenny and Squiggy Present Lenny and the Squigtones. This was the only album for the fictional band.
With Lander yelping at the audience to "sit down, relax, and dance" as the band takes to the stage, Squigtones makes a darn good case that the truly successful joke/music duo of the Carter administration were these guys instead of the Blues Brothers. Steering clear of covers in favor of their own nutball pastiches and lyrical loopiness, McKean and Lander are at once better and funnier than, say, Sha Na Na as well. While it helps to have been familiar with the Lenny & Squiggy schtick from the Laverne and Shirley shows, the two actors wisely don't reference the TV appearances.
Lenny and the Squigtones (Artist) Format: Vinyl. This is for all the Laverne and shirley fans, Lenny and Squiggy fans, and those who love to rock and roll. This is a fun album to be enjoyed by all age groups. Eccentric and hilarious. If you remember anything of Laverne & Shirley, you will remember Lenny Kosnowski (Michael McKean) and Andrew "Squiggy" Squigman (David lander) and their band. Pre-Spinal Tap Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) makes an appearance and Peter Criss (KISS) is in the photo as their drummer (sans makeup), but I'm not sure if he played on the album. This is the 50s version of Spinal Tap. Great stuff.
