Dorothy Moore (born October 13, 1946, in Jackson, Mississippi) is an American blues, gospel, and R&B singer best known for her 1976 hit song, "Misty Blue". Moore's parents were Mary Moore and Melvin Hendrex Senior. Her father performed under the stage name Melvin Henderson as a member of the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi
This was her second album for them, and it was well produced, with the same heartache ballads, wailers, and uptempo soul songs she'd previously recorded for Malaco and on her previous Volt release. Unfortunately, the album sank like a stone.

Dorothy Moore was originally a member of the female vocal group The Poppies, who had a pop hit in 1966 in the US with the song "Lullaby of Love. Moore went solo in the mid-'70s and her version of this song became her biggest hit. On backing vocals was her former Poppies bandmate Fern Kinney, who later in 1980 enjoyed a hit in the UK with "Together We Are Beautiful. This song has been covered by numerous other artists including Monica, whose version is featured on her 1998 album The Boy Is Mine. Moore's version is featured in the 1996 film Phenomenon.
