The Unraveling is the debut studio album by American rock band Rise Against, released on April 24, 2001 by Fat Wreck Chords. Following the release of the extended play Transistor Revolt in 2000, the band signed with Fat Wreck Chords and began working on the album at Sonic Iguana Studios with producer Mass Giorgini. Musically, The Unraveling is rooted in melodic hardcore, with lyrical themes that include friendships, relationships, and memories.

This album is not poppy, and there's no juvenile humor; Rise Against is a pretty tough band and The Unraveling shows that aspect. The vocals have a good deal of melody and range, yet can break into screaming at any moment, as many of the tracks show. Songs like "Everchanging" show the possibilities that the Chicago quartet is capable of. The lyrics are mature and thoughtful, dealing with friendships and relationships, religion and memories.

The Unraveling is the debut full-length album by American punk rock band Rise Against, released on April 24, 2001, and distributed through Fat Wreck Chords. Mass Giorgini produced the album at Sonic Iguana Studios in Lafayette, Indiana, in December 2000. It is the only Rise Against studio album on which lead vocalist Tim McIlrath does not play guitar. The album was remastered and re-released in 2005.
