What Defeated Sanity did on this album is fairly simple: they combined slow slam sections, breakneck speed parts, and jazzy interludes (which are very well done; Gruber and bassist Jacob Schmidt are one hell of a rhythm section) along with a foreboding (gasp) atmosphere. This atmosphere is made real by the production.

Fraught with spasmodic riffing, crushing slams, and AJ ing Magana, all elegantly compacted with the eye of a debauched architect, Defeated Sanity prove once again that this entire genre is their bitch.
