Pearl Harbor and the Explosions is the debut album by the American band Pearl Harbor and the Explosions. The album was released by Warner Bros.

Judging by the record they made, Harbor and bandmates had no qualms about cruising the new wave highway to heavy rotation. To be fair, so did numerous other bands. The slick, gauzy sound is seemingly tailor-made for courting Top 40 listeners, but a dearth of memorable tunes doesn't support the premise.

Pearl Harbor and the Explosions was a musical act from San Francisco, California. Forming in 1978, the new wave band had limited success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with their debut single, "Drivin'", reaching the lower end of the American top 40 charts in 1980. That same year, they released a self-titled LP which included the song "Shut Up and Dance", which received considerable airplay, especially in the Bay Area.

This album has an average beat per minute of 147 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 120/188 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page. Tracklist Pearl Harbor and the Explosions. Drivin'" was a moderately successful hit single for San Francisco band Pearl Harbor and the Explosions. It first was released on 415 Records, November 21, 1979. Shortly after, it was re-recorded for the band's 1980 self-titled debut LP on Warner Bros, and that version was also released as a single "Drivin'". Driving is the process of controlling a vehicle. Driving or Drivin' may also refer to: Driving (horse), is the control of an equine harnessed to a vehicle or to a piece of mobile equipment that, for example, carries out agricultural work. Driving (social), the act of influencing a person's behaviour. Combined driving, an equestrian sport involving carriage driving.

Drivin' (The Kinks song) – Drivin is a track penned by The Kinkss Ray Davies. The song appeared on the 1969 concept album, Arthur, Drivin, on 1 May 1969, was one of the first two tracks to be worked on by The Kinks. In Arthur, Drivin shows the protagonist, Arthur Morgan, convincing his wife, Rose, to all of her problems. However, within the context of the album, the song offers only a brief respite from the prevailing anxieties. Subsequent early releases included 7 EPs by SVT, The Nuns, and Pearl Harbor and the Explosions Drivin. Later records included a 7 by The Mutants, an album by The Units, a 12 33⅓ RPM album by Romeo Void, a mini-album by New Math, many other independent labels would form similar alliances with major labels over the coming decades. Had the band taken more chances, this album would have risen above standard-issue new wave fodder. The masses didn't care, either; by spring 1980, the band imploded, leaving Harbor to start over in London with a different cast of characters. Still, the highlights would make a dynamite EP. ~

This version of "Release It" is different from the one on the later single/album. It has electric guitars, not acoustic ones. A whole lot better on this single if you ask me...
