Harry Nilsson came of age as a songwriter and performer during the infamous Sixties, when anything seemed possible. The advantage for songwriters was that you weren't pigeonholed into a genre, and this collection of vintage Nilsson songs shows the range of a great talent. One" and "Without Her" are the best pop music has ever offered a too-ravenous public, and shows Nilsson's ability to sum up the spirit of a movie in a four-minute song.

Nilsson's covered version of "Everybody's Talkin’" was featured in the movie; and later in 1969 on August 10th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position eight weeks later on October 5th, 1969 it would peak at {for 1 week} and it stayed on the chart for 12 weeks. Ken from Louisville, KyHarry Nillson was know as a great songwriter, but his 2 biggest hits "Everybody's Talkin'" and "Without You" were written by someone else. Without You was written by Badfinger's Pete Ham. Also, "I guess The Lord Must Be In New York City" was resurected for the movie "Cinderella Liberty".

Nilsson had plenty of hits – like the 1972 No. 1 Without You, the Grammy-winning Everybody’s Talkin' (written by Fred Neil, from the film Midnight Cowboy ), Coconut, Jump Into the Fire and wrote Three Dog Night’s One. But he shunned the public life and did not tour. That’s why Blackman thinks Nilsson’s low profile has kept him from being recognized for his career achievements. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
