Khruangbin's new album 'Con Todo El Mundo' on CD in 6-panel wallet. ships out within 5 days. Purchasable with gift card. Formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald DJ Johnson on drums; globetrotting Texan trio Khruangbin present their second album ‘Con Todo El Mundo’, set for release on 26th January 2018. Whereas their 2015 debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ was influenced by 60s and 70s Thai cassettes and compilations of southeast Asian pop, rock and funk, ‘Con Todo El Mundo’ hops east over India to take inspiration in similarly under discovered funk and soul sounds of the Middle-East, particularly from Iran.

Released January 26, 2018. Con Todo El Mundo Tracklist. 1. Cómo Me Quieres Lyrics. Khruangbin’s second record was recorded in one week on a farm in Texas. According to guitarist Mark Seer, if we spent longer on the songs, they wouldn’t be what they are. What the album ends up reflecting is a time capsule of what we created in that bubble. The album marks a departure from the strictly instrumental style of their previous works.

Khruangbin craft atmosphere music that never fades into the background, like some endless curl of smoke that keeps pluming upward. Sprinkled with snippets of spoken word, faint vocal melodies, and ranging and impeccably performed guitar solos, the whole of their second record, Con Todo El Mundo is, in effect, a long and pleasant head nod that seems to hang between continents and eras. But Con Todo El Mundo broadens the group’s sound, maintaining the funk but also adding bits and pieces of Caribbean, Indian, and Middle Eastern music. Iran is the obvious touchstone in Maria También, whose video directly addresses women’s rights in that country. Throw in a few retro surf riffs and whispered vocal lines and you’ve got an aesthetic that feels at home at any beach or desert in the world.

Talk about Khruangbin - Con Todo El Mundo

DART-SKRIMER
looking to trade a copy of Live at Lincoln Hall for this. PM me if interested.

My VMP pressing is particularly noisy until track 4 and 5 on side A. Anyone with similar experiences? #443 here.

Colour doesn't affect the sound quality of vinyl records. A bad metalwork stage and overall poor pressing process does. Black is a colour too. The actual colour of vinyl is translucent white, just like plastic. The PVC pellets that end up becoming records are white. People expect the colour of vinyl to be black so it is dyed in black. If you have noise in your record perhaps you need to replace your stylus, particularly if you listen to your records a lot. Styluses should be ideally replaced after a few months of use, depending on how much you listen to your records. I have a copy of the record, it plays and sounds perfect in both sides.

Thanks for your reply. And I understand your opinion as I'm part of the "vinyl culture" as well. Hope you'll find a good copy soon to enjoy this great album ! This band has become my favorite.

Right, while I don't disagree with you, the other side of the argument is that some listen to records for as much of the visual and tactile ritual as much as they do for the auditory enjoyment of it. The alternate jacket sleeve, the unique colour mixes, this all plays into what I enjoy about the physical music experience. It also becomes a great little talking point amongst family and friends, which is always nice. So while, yes, black vinyl is the quietest, I'm okay with buying into the colour gimmick sometimes and do so with understanding that there will be some extra artifacts in the sound. This copy just happened to be especially noisy, so I posed the question to others, that's all.

Guys, Guys... throughout the history of shellac, have you seen blue, white or pink records ? Please go for black and forget this geek color record fancy. Mine is black and sound gorgeous Dudes ! Colors never sounded better in my opinion. It is just a collector thing not an audiophile thing but we are here for the music first I hope.
Zepavitta
I may need to give mine a spin. I also got the Black vinyl & white vinyl but I've only opened the black and the sound is full and clean on that one. Is VMP taking returns on this? I know they have been good in the past about replacing bad copies but only if you contact them.
Kinashand
my copy is silent, thankfully. first time getting a VMP release. #249. haven't A/Bd them, but seems like the secretly canadian cream-colored version sounded a bit better. could be an aural illusion.
Yahm
Yep, pretty noisy throughout. Side one is particularly noisy. Disappointing.
Pedar
Similar issue for myself as well sadly! Gave it a run on my record vacuum too but to no avail. I’d also agree with the comment below that the mastering does not bring out the most in the music.
