I don't know what this album is from, but because i'm such a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu, i decided to take a look anyway. I'm glad I did, because the songs were better than i expected. Especially Phantsmagoria. I don't know why, but when i listened to that, i just got a big smile on my face. i'll give it a 9 only 'cause there's only 11 songs on this album. This is not attached to any game.

Kuniaki Takenaga's first EP is one of his best, even after another 10+ fantastic releases. Steamroller kicks, clattering chattering hi-hats and snares, lots of mixing and delay tricks, and wonderfully dark background drones. Meltybladdia is significant just for its vocals (!) lending it a certain ritualistic air, though more appear in Phantasmagoria Noel, there coming across like cultish chants

Talk about Kuniaki Takenaga - Phantasmagoria

Once again, a Japanese artist takes a genre and runs with it in their own unique, unpredictable, and often exciting direction. Kuniaki Takenaga's first EP is one of his best, even after another 10+ fantastic releases.Four relentless, sci-fi industrial battle techno pieces that certainly pay homage to the British Murder Boys (love that snare!) but move on their own trajectory. Steamroller kicks, clattering chattering hi-hats and snares, lots of mixing and delay tricks, and wonderfully dark background drones. Meltybladdia is significant just for its vocals (!) lending it a certain ritualistic air, though more appear in Phantasmagoria Noel, there coming across like cultish chants. The best of the lot is probably Deepsea Of Blue - though it's hard to choose - the relentless kicks, drone rushes, and alien sirens in the backdrop all impart a sense of a malignant, infested ocean of death and cthulhu horrors. Most of Takenaga-san's material is worth hearing, but everyone new to his work would find a good place to start here. Excellent stuff.
