Complete your The Headhunters collection. Never knew this existed until recently - but seems now there are 3 different versions of the promo in existence. The essential one to have is the version that includes the extended Disco Mix - the other two were just different presses of the mono and stereo versions of the track. The differences being the catalogue number and the layout on the label. Reply Notify me 3 Helpful.
The album contained a hit, "God Make Me Funky" which was sampled by the Fugees and others. On some re-issues of the album, the band's music is called space funk. The following album Straight from the Gate was released in 1977. As the 1970s turned to the 1980s, Hancock drifted away from the band as he moved into his electro-oriented phase, and they ceased operation as a visible unit. The band reunited with Hancock for the 1998 album Return of the Headhunters.
1975 also saw Headhunters first album without Hancock, Survival of the Fittest, featuring the hit "God Made Me Funky". This song was sampled by The Fugees for their track "Ready or Not," and has been covered by Jamiroquai as a live track. As the 1970s turned to the 1980s, Herbie Hancock drifted away from the band as he moved into his electro-oriented phase, and they ceased operation as a visible unit.

As rumours circulate that Justin Bieber is recording a Christian album, here are some examples of how that might not be completely awful. The Byrds' 1965 hit is based, almost verbatim, on chapter three of the Book of Ecclesiastes, where King Solomon contemplates the meaning of life, God and eternity. It was "probably the only time a song was at number one on the charts right out of the Bible," guitarist Chris Hillman later told the US Library of Congress. The Headhunters - God Made Me Funky.
Survival of the Fittest is the debut album by the Jazz/Funk quintet The Headhunters. The album was released by Arista Records in 1975. The album features the stand out track "God Make Me Funky", which has been sampled numerous times by prominent rappers. Labeled as "the best space-funk album" in the CD version, released by BMG France, in 2001. A digipack that includes liner-notes in English and French. This CD version was digitally remastered from the original master tapes in 24-bit by Jean-Pierre Chalbos.
