After a brief split following sister Bonnie's departure from the group, a musically reinvented and recharged Pointer Sisters returned composed of Ruth, Anita and June. Their first album for Planet, this was also the first album produced by Richard Perry.

The Pointer Sisters "ENERGY" was released in 1978 and was a major breakthrough for the group. Sister Bonnie has recently departed for a solo career and the group signed on to Planet label and picked uber hot producer hit maker Richard Perry to produce their first effort for Planet. Perry, a production genius, steered the sisters towards a new sound. This album was before they went in a pop direction. It's a shame they never got back to their RNR roots but their pop/high energy stuff is awesome and funn too. One of the best bands ever. Also, the far superior to Springsteen's Fire is included here too.

The Pointer Sisters is the self-titled debut by the Pointer Sisters, released in 1973 on the Blue Thumb label. The album yielded the hits "Yes We Can Can" and "Wang Dang Doodle" and became a success based on word of mouth after heralded performances at The Troubadour in Los Angeles and the Helen Reddy Show.
