I know you’re thinking I’m heartless I know you’re thinking I’m cold I’m just protecting my innocence I’m just protecting my soul. I’m never going to let you close to me Even though you mean the most to me ‘Cause every time I open up it hurts So I’m never going to get too close to you Even when I mean the most to you In case you go and leave me in the dirt.
The Wild Ones" is the second single from the album Dog Man Star by Suede, released on 14 November 1994 on Nude Records. The song peaked at in the UK. The ballad is considered a favourite among fans and is one of their most notable songs of this period. Brett Anderson has said on numerous occasions that he regards this song as not only the high-water mark of his writing partnership with Bernard Butler, but his favourite of all Suede songs.
So while we can’t be sure he was truly the first, the first known calculations on the subject were made by Sainte-Laguë, though this fact doesn’t necessarily mean that another physicist didn’t do similar calculations during a drunken argument, which is good because we like that part of the story. What isn’t known is how the fact first eked into the public consciousness, and it’s likely we’ll never find out due to it being so long ago.
So why, seven years ago, did colonies start dying en masse? Marla Spivak reveals four reasons which are interacting with tragic consequences. This is not simply a problem because bees pollinate a third of the world's crops. There's over 20,000 species of bees in the world, and they're absolutely gorgeous. These bees spend the majority of their life cycle hidden in the ground or within a hollow stem and very few of these beautiful species have evolved highly social behavior like honeybees. The very farms that used to sustain bees are now agricultural food deserts, dominated by one or two plant species like corn and soybeans. Since World War II, we have been systematically eliminating many of the flowering plants that bees need for their survival. And these monocultures extend even to crops that are good for bees, like almonds.
You know it's really bright and it's supposed to remind people of being on a summer day. I just really tried to really stripped down both the meanings, of what that color represents and then what this song would represent. And then as I was just listening to the album, thinking about some of that, and I realized, "Oh shit, there are twelve colors on a color wheel, I've got twelve songs. It's easy to say that but I really can't pinpoint why. It's like the thing with Basquiat. People love the hell out of Basquiat but at the same time, he was around rappers his whole life. He was around Fab Five Freddy and all them, growing up in that whole scene. I think that's really what it is: it's easy to accept us because then you can always ignore us. If you don't see us in the art world, then you don't have to see us anywhere. If we're not in a museum, we're almost not real people to them. It's really fucking stupid.
