For the 1973 Pescado Rabioso album, see Artaud (album). including a comatose period, a severely weakened Antonin survived. Artaud's parents arranged a series of sanatorium stays for their temperamental son, which were both prolonged and expensive. This lasted five years, with a break of two months in June and July 1916, when Artaud was conscripted into the French Army. He was discharged due to addiction to laudanum and mental instability. During Artaud's "rest cures" at the sanatorium, he read Arthur Rimbaud, Charles Baudelaire, and Edgar Allan Poe.

Artaud is the third full-length album by Pescado Rabioso. The title makes reference of the French poet Antonin Artaud. Although Artaud was officially billed as the third Pescado Rabioso album, the Argentinean group had actually broken up by the time it was recorded. It’s essentially a solo effort by gwriter Luis Alberto Spinetta, with contributions from his brother, drummer Carlos Gustavo Spinetta, bassist Emilio Del Guercio, and drummer Rodolfo García, the latter two of whom had played with Spinetta back in the pre-Pescado Rabioso band Almendra

Artaud (French: ) is the third and final album by the Argentine rock band Pescado Rabioso, released in 1973 on Talent and Microfón. With this in mind, Artaud is considered Spinetta's fifth studio album as a solo artist.
