Danke Schoen" /ˈdɑːŋkə ʃeɪn/ is a pop song of German origin. Bert Kaempfert, who composed the melody, recorded it as an instrumental, in 1959 and later in 1962, under the title "Candlelight Cafe". Kurt Schwabach wrote the German lyrics. The song gained international fame in 1963 when singer Wayne Newton recorded an American version, with English lyrics by Milt Gabler

Album Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (Original Soundtrack). Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen Thank you for all the joy and pain Picture show, second balcony, was the place we'd meet Second seat, gold Dutch treat, you were sweet. Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen Save those lies, darling don't explain I recall Central Park in fall How you tore your dress, what a mess, I confess That's not all. Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen Thank you for walks down Lover's Lane I can see, hearts carved on a tree Letters intertwined, for all time Yours and mine, that was fine. Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen Thank you for seeing me again Though we go on our separate ways Still the memory stays, for always My heart says, "Danke schoen".

It's supposed to be pronounced like Dawn-kuh shown not like Dawn-kah shane. And schoen means pretty not nice. Notes

Although the song title "Danke Schoen" is displayed prominently on the front cover, and advertisements on the back covers of other Wayne Newton albums released by Capitol Records refer to this album under the title "Danke Schoen," the disc labels and LP cover spine of the actual release refer to the title as simply "Wayne Newton."

The Goldmine Standard Catalog of American Records also refers to this release as "Danke Schoen."

The spelling of track A1 on the sleeve and label should be 'Danke Schön' which is the proper German spelling of the song by Bert Kaempfert.
