On their debut album, Loveless Unbeliever, the School prove that they have fully absorbed the lessons of the classic girl groups and Brill Building songwriters, and deliver an album full of instantly memorable songs that plays like a greatest-hits collection. The group, led by singer and songwriter Liz Hunt, went through a lot of members on the way to finishing the album, but the final product is tightly focused and note perfect (much of the thanks for which should go to producer Ian Catt)

The band's debut album Loveless Unbeliever was released on 31 May 2010, produced by Ian Catt. Second album Reading Too Much into Things Like Everything was released on 14 May 2012. It was recorded at Bryn Derwen Studios in Bethesda, North Wales, by David Wrench

Yet The School’s debut album, Loveless Unbeliever, is so polished that one half suspects they just spent several years in the rehearsal studio before nonchalantly strolling onto the gig circuit. From The Ramones to the Gossip, the DIY scene has long been influenced by the output of Tamla Motown and the Phil Spector-produced girl groups of the 60s. Yet rarely have they channelled these influences so slavishly, or so beautifully. The band is essentially the baby of frontwoman Liz Hunt, whose crystal pure, marvellously unforced tones take centre stage throughout.
