Beacon Theatre (New York City). The Beacon Theatre is a historic theater at 2124 Broadway (at West 74th Street) on Broadway in Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York City. The Allman Brothers Band played its first set on Tuesday night at the Beacon Theater sounding relaxed and steady, on midboil, with some fairly long pauses between songs: One Way Out, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, Midnight Rider and so on. Transitional arrangements were carpentered into the music, and improvised drum passages came in triplicate from Jaimoe, Butch Trucks (Derek’s uncle) and Marc Quiñones

The only note of sentiment during the Allman Brothers Band‘s October 28th concert at New York’s Beacon Theatre – their last at that venue and anywhere else, at least for the foreseeable future – came after more than four hours of music: three sets and an inevitable encore, Whipping Post. The Allmans got back in position and tore into Trouble No More, the Muddy Waters rumble from Side One of the group’s 1969 debut album, The Allman Brothers Band. It sounded nothing like goodbye: tight and gnarly, Derek and Haynes riding the triple-drum-kit surf with avenging poise.
The Allman Brothers Band returned to the Beacon Theatre for the third show of their six-night farewell run yesterday. As was the case on Wednesday, guitarist Derek Trucks once again took up Duane Allman’s long-lost (and recently rediscovered) 1957 Goldtop Les Paul for a number of tunes.
