Out of Time" is a song by the Rolling Stones, first released on their 1966 album Aftermath (UK version). The most commercially successful version of the song was by the singer Chris Farlowe, an English solo artist. Farlowe's single, produced by Jagger, peaked at number one in the UK Singles Chart on 28 July 1966 and stayed at the top for one week. A shorter alternative mix of the Rolling Stones' recording was released in the US in 1967 on the album Flowers.

But then again, the last time the Stones managed to finish a studio album was back in 2005, with A Bigger Bang. That doesn’t mean I can’t get pissed off occasionally, and I have no doubt it goes the other way around. But you have to forgive and forget, and also I would say that 89 percent of the time we’re in total agreement. But people only hear about the 11 percent, you know, where it flares up. What would the Stones be without it?

This was one of the first songs written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. The original title was "As Time Goes B. It was changed to avoid confusion with the song from Casablanca. Mick Jagger (1995): "I wrote the lyrics, and Keith wrote the melody. It's a very melancholy song for a 21-year-old to write: The evening of the day, watching children play - it's very dumb and naive, but it's got a very sad sort of thing about it, almost like an older person might write. You know, it's like a metaphor for being old: You're watching children playing and realizing you're not a child.

Time doesn’t apply to the Rolling Stones quite like it does to other rock bands. Their longevity is staggering - this band has been around for 55 years. In 2017, it seems equally reasonable to think of the Rolling Stones as rock gods or greedy dinosaurs. Either characterization, though, is inadequate. In all likelihood, the band’s most recent studio album, the all-blues cover effort Blue & Lonesome, is going to be its last. It’d been 11 years since the previous one, and Mick, Keith, and Charlie are north of 70 years old. Guitarist Ronnie Wood, who joined up in 1976, is the youngster at 69. At some point, time is going to do to them what time always does.

Frequently appearing in the song As Time Goes By lyrics: Six times times appears As time goes by lyrics. Six times times appears I sit.
