Red Box are a British pop group founded by Simon Toulson-Clarke and Julian Close. Active from the early 1980s to the present day, they scored two UK Top Ten hits with the singles "Lean On Me (Ah-Li-Ayo)" in 1985 and "For America" in 1986, both of which were included on their debut album, The Circle & the Square. Red Box returned briefly in 1990 with the single "Train" and second album Motive and again in 2010 with third album Plenty released in October 2010.

Red Box was a band from the late 1980s whose sound was very unique. To me, it was like a fusion of world music, folk music and electronic pop. This is the 2nd release from Red Box. It has a bunch of great catchy tunes, but it didn't quite live up to the critically acclaimed The Circle and The Square, their 1st release. The song Train was the only real hit from this release. He assembles a new line-up (fellow bandmate Julian Close now having moved into A & R) resulting in the album, Motive, and a single, Train. Red Box mark II was ready to roll, at which point, crushingly, and despite interest from radio and television, the single was pulled at the last minute. A limited run of copies of the album was put out to no fanfare whatsoever.

Gone are the world music trappings and First Nations beats, to be replaced by sheer pop bliss. Train" gets the album off and chugging with its refrain of "Go internationale!," while "Moving" has an infectious pop hook emblematic of the remainder of the disc
