The song reached in 1967 for Leon Ashley. The song, to my knowledge has never appeared on CD by Marty. I should imagine that this recording is not that well known, but nevertheless it's a great song sung by one of the greatest singers of all time. I wonder what the composer was thinking - perhaps it was meant to be deliberately ambiguous. No question that Frankie Laine was one of the 20th century's musical giants. so (to me) it's the "original" version "I'm Gonna Be Strong", although I believe that Laine's version actually pre-dated Pitney's version by several months.
