Big Bang is the fifth studio album by Brazilian rock band Os Paralamas do Sucesso. It was released in November 20, 1989. Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell covered "Lanterna dos Afogados" for their 2017 album 1755. Os Paralamas do Sucesso.

Hoje (Os Paralamas do Sucesso album). Hoje is the eleventh studio album by brazilian rock band Os Paralamas do Sucesso. The songs were composed after Herbert Vianna's accident, unlike Longo Caminho. The album features three special participations: Manu Chao ("Soledad Cidadão (Me Llaman Calle)"), Marcelinho da Lua ("Ao Acaso") and Andreas Kisser ("Fora do Lugar" and "Ponto de Vista").

Paralamas do Sucesso were formed in 1982 by bassist Bi Ribeiro (Felipe Ribeiro, born in 1961, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), guitarist/vocalist Herbert Vianna (born in 1961, João Pessoa, PB), and drummer Vital Dias, who was replaced the next year by João Barone (born in 1962, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The focus of the band was reggae and ska with a rock background. The song sold 11,000 copies and before the end of the year, their first LP, Cinema Mudo, was released. The trio later regretted doing the album; at the time, they couldn't fight the producer, who decided to top it with keyboards and guitars. But they went on, opening at the New York nightclub Danceteria in that year. O Passo do Lui, released in August 1984, solidified their connections with the new wave reggae proposed by the Police and the English bands Madness and the Beat, among others.

Os Paralamas do Sucesso (also known simply as Paralamas) is a Brazilian rock band, formed in Seropédica in the late 1970s. Its members since 1982 are Herbert Vianna (guitar and lead vocals), Bi Ribeiro (bass), and João Barone (drums). In its beginning, the band combined reggae and ska with rock, but later added horn arrangements and Latin rhythms. The album opposed the "manipulation" of the band's first release from its cover (featuring Bi's younger brother in the middle of the woods wearing only a shirt around his waist) and incorporated a bold mixture of reggae, rock and African rhythms. Produced by Liminha (former bass player for Os Mutantes), it spanned the hits "Alagados", "A Novidade" (their first collaboration with Gilberto Gil, and the second track co-written with him), "Melô do Marinheiro", and "Você" (a cover version of a Tim Maia song), and sold over 700,000 copies.

Three young guys who had in common their love for rock, reggae and ska - Herbert Vianna, Bi Ribeiro and João Barone - formed the group Paralamas at the beginning of the 80’s inspired by the sonority of groups as The Police, The Beat and The Specials, that used to recycle the rhythms created in Jamaica.
