Jowe Head (born Stephen Bird) is a British guitarist, singer, and visual artist, who was a member of Swell Maps before joining the Television Personalities. He has also released a large amount of material as a solo artist and as leader of groups such as Househunters and Palookas.

Television Personalities unreleased album. Recorded by Jowe and Dan at Jowe's flat in Glading Terrace, Stoke Newington (shortly before it was demolished), over a number sessions on a portable 4-track cassette-tape machine. Transferred to digital format at Sonic Bunker by Jowe and Rob McClymont. released January 26, 2018.

Their varied, volatile and long career encompasses post punk, neo-psychedelia and indie pop; the only constant being Treacy's deadpan lyrics and deliberately amateurish musical style.

Unearthed from the vaults and set for release on 26 January, Beautiful Despair was recorded in 1990 at guitarist Jowe Head’s flat in Stoke Newington, London and features both Jowe (pictured, above right) and Dan Treacy. Here, we chat to Jowe to find out more about the 15-track ge. hat prompted the release of Beautiful Despair? How did it feel re-discovering the material? I recorded this material at my flat in Stoke Newington back in 1989 to 1990 with Dan Treacy on my four-track cassette Portastudio
