The Best of Rod Stewart is a compilation album released by Rod Stewart in 1976 (see 1976 in music). It was released by Mercury Records to complete Rod’s contract before switching labels to Warner Bros. and moving to The United States. It includes tracks from all his Mercury albums and some non-album singles from the same time period. The Best of Rod Stewart was originally released as a double album. It was re-released on Compact Disc in 1998 with all 18 tracks on a single disc

The Rod Stewart Album, one of Rod's early solo efforts, is indicative of his work at that time. Stewart sticks to his playbook of the period, penning some of the songs (Blind Prayer, An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down) and borrowing from some famous mates. Stewart does it justice. Handbags and Gladrags, which received kudos when included on the Unplugged and Seated CD, appears for the first time here and remains a signature song in the Stewart catalogue. For Stewart Fans, no collection is thorough enough without this album. 6 people found this helpful.

Angel' is a song of Rod Stewart's fourth studio album 'Never a Dull Moment', released in 1972. For entertainment purposes only. lyrics -. Angel came down from heaven yesterday stayed with me long enough to rescue me And she told me a story yesterday about the sweet love between the moon and the deep blue sea Then she spread her wings high over me she said she's goin' now, come back tomorrow And I said, "Fly on my sweet angel, fly on through the sky. Fly on my sweet angel tomorrow I'm gonna be by your side". Fly away, high away, fly away

Records shines a spotlight on Stewart’s phenomenal legacy on stage with LIVE 1976-1998: TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT, a new four-disc collection that spans more than 20 years with 58 unreleased live recordings that include his biggest hits along with some incredible covers. Arranged chronologically, the opening disc is comprised of performances recorded in a variety of venues across England in 1976

On his debut album (titled An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down in Britain, and The Rod Stewart Album in America, presumably because its original title was "too English" or cryptic for . audiences), Rod Stewart essays a startlingly original blend of folk, blues, and rock & roll. The opening cover of the Stones' "Street Fighting Man" encapsulates his approach.
