Meaning Of Darkness Pt. 2 is one of Bau's more inspired moments. Basically, it's a seven minute onslaught of exquisite percussion, characterized by intricate and sharp intensity of use, meaning that, parallel with the track's progression, the prominence of the drums vary from excruciating and agonizing to recherch and deeply subtle. The close-fitting structure, closely constrained and kept on the same level throughout, allows the entire focus to shift on the ever morphing percussion. There are constant radar pulses emitted throughout as well, and a seismic detector like bass line operating beneath the surface, mainly used as landing ground for the erratic, divagatory drums. In my opinion, this tune is the perfect blockade runner for those moments when you feel like breaking out of the more laid back techno pattern and are ready to up the game venturing into some head on mechanical madness. Plenty breaks and 'gaps' leave a lot of space open for mixer tricks and effects, or just plain preparation for the next tune to drop. May I add that it is a pleasure to drop Meaning Of Darkness Pt.2 on its own as well - a back to basics four on the floor ride that is bound to make anyone go off the rails. Most certainly among the finest Alex Bau tracks.Drums don't stop...Pity about Swelling Sirens though. Another one of those mediocre tools where a two minute extract is copy pasted three times in a row, but each time emphasized by a seemingly larger build up, while it's actually the same thing again preceded by a longer break than the last one... It will come in handy, but be fast, this can hardly stand on its own for more than three minutes - at best.
