Powerhouse blues vocalist Sari Schorr will finally be releasing her second studio album Never Say Never on October 5th through Manhaton Records. When a vocalist is as strong as the opera-trained Sari Schorr (with a rumored five octave vocal range!) you had better staff that studio band with some serious players who can set the table for those soaring, emotive vocals of hers and still be dynamic and interesting enough players in their own right to stand out in those moments when the spotlight.

This followed her critically acclaimed debut – ‘A Force Of Nature’ – in 2016, produced by veteran blues rock pioneer Mike Vernon. Following her February 2019 tour with King King, and recent March gigs, Sari Schorr plays further headline dates in April. In this hour special Pete Feenstra chats to Sari about her current album.

So when I say Sari Schorr’s second album, Never Say Never, is positively engrossing, it’s understandable if you’re skeptical. And upon hearing it, it caused her to stop and ask Who is this? It was Sari Schorr, a Queens, New York-born singer. She has a husky voice, a la Melissa Etheridge. Wilson is given lots of freedom on the album and he takes advantage, establishing the guitar as a very strong secondary character across the album. Much of the album is pop-soaked blues rock. Valentina is propulsive, with Wilson’s rocking guitars driving the track.

Following the release of her latest album Never Say Never, New York born Sari Schorr is thrilled to announce that she will be playing London’s 100 Club as part of London Blues Week on Friday 18th January with Sharrie Williams – The Princess of Rockin’ Gospel Blues. Sari Schorr has a voice like no other, hyper powerful, husky, muscular, with an incredible texture and range. She delivers sentences as a boxer would throw an uppercut to his opponent.

Released on Manhaton Records. One of the first things that strike the listener when playing this new album is the quality of and deft playing of the band members – keys ace Bob Fridzema, guitarist Ash Wilson, bass man Mat Beable and drummer Roy Martin. Thank You features throaty wah guitar and a Southern Soul-style slice of singing. It’s catchy and as the guitar hits a tremolo setting the Hammond purrs in the mix. The Bad Company gem Ready For Love gets the Schorr treatment next. Sounds somewhat slower than the original and shows off Bob’s skills well. Schorr goes easy to start, then builds up the wattage.
