LP (12" album, 33 rpm). The Black Keys Format: Vinyl. I learned about The Black Keys 6 months ago and started with their debut album and bought everything except their latest to date. If I was going to recommend an album to start with, it would be Rubber Factory. I am a big fan of the White Stripes, and hearing these guys played as a two piece intrigued me. They have surpassed my expectations.

Thickfreakness is the second studio album by American rock duo The Black Keys, released in 2003. It is their debut release for the Fat Possum record label, although in the UK and Europe it was co-released by Epitaph Records. The band's debut album The Big Come Up had been tremendously successful for an independent rock band and Thickfreakness further increased their profile. It continues The Black Keys' tradition of raw, heavy blues-influenced garage rock.

Their third album, Rubber Factory (2004), received critical acclaim and boosted the band's profile, eventually leading to a record deal with major label Nonesuch Records in 2006. After self-producing and recording their first four records in makeshift studios, the duo completed Attack & Release (2008) in a professional studio and hired producer Danger Mouse, who subsequently became a frequent collaborator with the band. The group's commercial breakthrough came in 2010 with Brothers, which along with its popular single "Tighten Up", won three Grammy Awards. Blakroc, a collaborative album featuring the Black Keys and several hip hop artists, was released in 2009 on Black Friday. The project was supported and brought together by Damon Dash, who is a big fan of the band.

Album · 2004 · 13 Songs. A rugged, lo-fi funk runs through The Black Keys' third album. Drummer Patrick Carney's grooves at times hit home like breakbeats sampled from dusty old LPs, making plain the duo's claim that their stripped-down sound is as much inspired by Wu-Tang Clan as by their garage rock bedfellows. The low-slung swagger of "When the Lights Go Out" and the brooding, gloomy "Grown So Ugly" are particularly potent. Rubber Factory The Black Keys.

It's easy to think of the Black Keys as the flip side of the White Stripes. They both hail from the Midwest, they both work a similar garage blues ground and both have color-coded names. If they're not quite kissing cousins, they're certainly kindred spirits, and they're following surprisingly similar career arcs, as the Keys' third album, Rubber Factory, is neatly analogous to the Stripes' third album breakthrough, White Blood Cells.
