Back to the Egg was Sir Paul's ninth studio album & only made it to on the charts. It's likely that the public had a negative reaction to this album because it didn't have most of the normal type of songs he records. That's sad because, though most will disagree, it's one of his best albums; not only that, but the version of Wings put together here was the most talented  . Back To The Egg", is one of Wings' rockiest efforts. The Japan import is just the original album with no bonus tracks. Excellent sound, better than the original cd.

This final studio album from Paul McCartney and Wings doubles as a response to the rise of the Punk and New Wave scenes in the late 1970s. Released in 1979, Back to the Egg is said to be the band’s response to the rise of the Punk and New Wave scenes, and indeed, there is some truth to that. Take for example a song like Spin It On – it is played at a breakneck speed, faster than anything they’d ever attempted before.

Back to the Egg is probably the hardest-rocking Wings album. Was that McCartney's goal, or did he pretty much let you do what you wanted to do? It was a combination of a number of factors. He’d been writing stuff that had more of an edge to it, and coming off the London Town album, which was kind of soft, there was a punk edge in the air. Producer Chris Thomas had done the Sex Pistols and was on the way to doing the Pretenders. Back to the Egg definitely has a fan base, particularly in the States - and it wasn’t a singles-driven album, either. Back To The Egg was the ninth and final studio album by Wings, the band having acquired two new members in guitarist Laurence Juber and drummer Steve Holly. The album saw Paul work alongside producer Chris Thomas, who had trained as a producer during recording of The Beatles' 1968 eponymous classic (the White Album). Recorded for the Back To The Egg sessions, though not included on the final album, was the eventual hit single ‘Goodnight Tonight’.
