music collective Woo delivers a masterpiece of microcosmic proportions with their under-heard landmark Into The Heart of Love. Although they use easily identifiable instruments, the music is truly hermetic, coming from nowhere and made with feeling instead of genre or artistic points of reference. It's predominantly an instrumental record, peppered with a few welcomed lyrics that beckon casual listeners to listen closer.

Only Love Can Break a Heart is the second album by songwriter and recording artist Gene Pitney, released on the Musicor label in 1962. It included the top 10 hits "Only Love Can Break a Heart" ( and "(The Man Who Shot) Liberty Valance" ( which was written for but not ultimately used in, the film of the same name. Three other singles from the album also charted; "Half Heaven-Half Heartache" at "True Love Never Runs Smooth" at and "If I Didn't Have a Dime" at #58.

Like their other albums, The Seeds of Love continues the concept of moving from hurting to healing to beginning anew (the hit "Sowing the Seeds of Love") to growing apart

Only love, only love. Darling I feel you, under my body  . And I'll be yours to keep. A wind in the shadow, a whale song in the deep. Darling you're with me, always around me. Only love, only love. Give me shelter, or show me heart Come on love, come on love. Watch me fall apart, watch me fall apart.

This was Neil Young's first Top 40 hit as a solo artist. His commercial zenith came with "Heart of Gold," a single from his next album, Harvest. Young's former bandmate Steven Stills is one of many to cover this song, releasing it on his 1984 album Right by You. Other notable covers are by Jackie DeShannon, Elkie Brooks, Rickie Lee Jones, and Florence and The Machine. In Shakey, Jimmy McDonough writes that Young's own sheet music for this song has a sketch of Young in the '70s, the archetypal "forlorn, lonely troubadour with a guitar. The entire album is acoustic. The English band Saint Etienne had a hit in 1990 with their cover version of this song. It peaked at on the UK Singles Chart and two years later became the group's only entry in the US Billboard Hot 100, when it reached #97.

A heart full of love A heart full of song I'm doing everything all wrong Oh God, for shame I do not even know your name Dear Mad'moiselle Won't you say? Will you tell? A heart full of love No fear, no regret. My name is Marius Pontmercy. Cosette, I don't know what to say! Then make no sound! I am lost. A heart full of light. A night bright as day.

This song from the 1984 album Agent Provocateur perfectly depicts the despair and hope of love. These lines say it all: "In my life there's been heartache and pain/I don't know if I can face it again/Can't stop now, I've traveled so far, to change this lonely life. Crazy For You" by Madonna. I Cross My Heart" by George Strait. This gem from the 1992 Pure Country soundtrack is proof that Strait knows his way around the heart. Everyone wants to hear their sweetheart utter these words: "I cross my heart and promise to/Give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true. When You Say Nothing at All" by Alison Krauss.
