Shayne P Carter (born in Dunedin, New Zealand) is a musician best known for leading Straitjacket Fits from 1986–1994, and as the only permanent member of Dimmer (1995–2012). Carter is a member of the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame, and has been awarded the New Zealand Herald Legacy Award (with Straitjacket Fits at the 2008 New Zealand Music Awards), and New Zealand Music Awards for Best Group and Best Rock Album (with Dimmer, 2004).

Bored Games - Who Killed Colonel Mustard. Because I’m reading Shayne Carter’s brilliant autobiography Dead People I Have Known, I had to dig this out. It’s his high school punk band. That doesn’t sound like a great proposition, does it? But it’s Shayne Carter, so of course it’s bloody great. Melodic, hooky, tons of energy, with a bigger, punchier sound than you might expect from a record where the cover colours were limited to black and red because full colour was too expensive (perversely, they only used the red on the back of the sleeve).
Colonel Mustard is the stock character of a great white hunter and colonial imperialist. He is usually a military man both dignified and dangerous. He rolls second in the game. 1949 UK: Colonel Mustard makes his debut as a 30 to 40 year old stiff-lipped gentleman, given a clean-cut British look with straw-coloured hair and moustache.
