It was released on March 3, 2004 through Spinefarm Records. The Japanese release of Death Unlimited and the Spreading Death CD single features a cover song, "Tornado of Souls" by Megadeth. The song; "Death Unlimited" is featured on the Spreading Death CD single and its video on the DVD single.

Death Unlimited is an easy album to hate, but it has some merits, they're still mostly there at this point. This is NO Bodom Ripoff, 10X Better! - 97%. ict1523, June 12th, 2006. Death Unlimited is up next. Fast as hell, with a nice dark feeling to it. A great moment is somewhere in the first half of the song, where all instruments fall still for a moment and then it blasts into your ears: "FUCK YOU AND DIE!" The chorus rocks on this one, but it's nothing like the totally insane solo half-way across. Chasm starts out calmer, with a good riff ticking along. It rocks to hear they can also put some calmth into their songs, and control it perfectly.

Death Unlimited is Finnish Melodic Death Metal band Norther’s third album, released in 2004. Their first two albums, Dreams Of Endless War and Mirror Of Madness displayed a furious, melodic and at times Power Metal influenced style of Melodic Death Metal, much like Finnish counterparts Children Of Bodom. Their first two albums were good, but if Norther really were to shed their ‘CoB clone’ image and progress musically, they’d really have to change things up on this album. Fortunately, they did, as Death Unlimited breaks the former Norther formula and displays a new sound for the band.
