Paid in Full is the first album by the classic duo Eric B. & Rakim and was released in July 7, 1987. Paid in Full is the debut album of American hip hop duo Eric B. & Rakim, released on July 7, 1987, by Island-subsidiary label 4th & B'way Records.

Rakim basically invents modern lyrical technique over the course of Paid in Full, with his complex internal rhymes, literate imagery, velvet-smooth flow, and unpredictable, off-the-beat rhythms. The key cuts here are some of the most legendary rap singles ever released, starting with the duo's debut sides, "Eric B. Is President" and "My Melody. I Know You Got Soul" single-handedly kicked off hip-hop's infatuation with James Brown samples, and Eric B. & Rakim topped it with the similarly inclined "I Ain't No Joke," a stunning display.

Released in 1987, Paid In Full is Eric. B and Rakim's first record and to this day still holds it's own with hip-hop over twenty years after it's release. In fact many MC's over that span have copied Rakim's flow and lyricism. Rarely does an album come out where all tracks are dynamite from start to finish, not only that but Rakim doesn't even have to cuss for his songs to be "hard". He uses his intelligence to come correct in all these songs. I urge every fan of hip-hop to cop this gem, I promise you wont be at all disappointed
