As a member of The Marx Brothers, Harpo Marx had delighted film goers for years with his zany and slapstick humour, usually recognizable by the fact that he never spoke in any of the films, relying on nonverbal ways to communicate, and his harp playing, which occurred in just about every film! In 1952 he recorded his first album for RCA, Harp By Harpo, and five years later signed with Mercury Records, a deal that would result in two albums

Hearing Harpo Marx in a jazz setting, the result is more than just satisfying an urge for good music in this genre; it fulfills a popular fantasy in which the outrageous, anarchistic nature of the Harpo character joins forces with the rebellious spirit that is jazz. In turn, that cuts to the quick of why the music of Harpo Marx is so unique, indeed, why the entire idea of the man as a musician is so compelling. As for Harpo at Work, the jazz connection would be Charlie Parker With Strings. What is apparently also a virtuoso display of pedals on the harp is also a gorgeous performance of this standard that stands alongside any of the jazz greats.

Jan Torsten Svensson, known professionally as Harpo (born 5 April 1950), is a Swedish pop singer. He was popular in Sweden and around Europe in the 1970s and is best known for his worldwide hits "Moviestar" and "Horoscope", which reached number 24 in the UK Singles Chart, and number 3 in the Australian Singles Chart in 1976

Harpo Marx (1888-1964) was a member of the vaudville and motion picture comedy group the Marx Brothers. He was a self-taught harp player, and employed an alternate technique of his own invention. In 1957 and 1958 he recorded two albums, Harpo in Hi-Fi and Harpo at Work. These consisted mostly of older standards like "Laura" with Harpo either playing solo, or backed by strings or a soft-jazz combo.

Adolph "Harpo" Marx (later Arthur "Harpo" Marx) (November 23, 1888 – September 28, 1964) was an American comedian and film star. He was the second-oldest of the Marx Brothers.
