Juan Luis Guerra Seijas (born June 7, 1957), is a Dominican musician, singer, composer, and record producer. He has sold over 70 million records, and has won numerous awards including 21 Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, and two Latin Billboard Music Awards. Guerra won 3 Latin Grammy Awards in 2010, including Album of the Year. In 2012, he won the Latin Grammy Award for Producer of the Year.

Bachata rosa established Juan Luis Guerra as the Dominican Republic’s premier recording artist throughout Latin America and the world, and is incontestably one of the most significant recordings ever made by a Dominican musician. It is also certain that, while Juan Luis Guerra was tremendously successful throughout Latin America, his success did not translate into international recognition of the genre as a whole, or presage the development of an international market for bachata.

Titled after Guerra's 1990 breakout hit of the same name, Burbujas de Amor: 30 Grandes Canciones Románticas is split in half and sequenced non-chronologically. The first disc is comprised of ballads and bachatas, whereas the second is comprised of merengues and uptempo material. This split-tempo approach is in contrast to Guerra's albums, which often switch gears from fast to slow. About half of the 30 songs here were hit singles, but that doesn't mean the others are of lesser quality. As it turns out, all the material here is first-rate.
