Gypsy is the debut double album by the progressive rock band Gypsy. It was recorded at Devonshire Studios, North Hollywood, California, and released in 1970. The album was re-released in 1979 on a K-tel label named Cognito and again in 1999 on CD by Bedrock Records. Gypsy Queen" is the band's only charted single, peaking at The album peaked at on the Billboard Pop Albums charts in 1970.

Kitty Winter has many voices. In this suite of loosely connected songs, she chronicles the travels of the Gipsy people, and her own, her personal experiences turned into lyrics by a band mate. It opens on a lonely piano, and builds to a full orchestra, its elegant lines heightening the emotion here. This is probably Kitty’s best moment, and Letcho impresses me as well. The big attraction of the album is Zawinology, a five-part suite composed by Joe Zawinul with words by Kitty’s lyricist Willi Gartner. To be honest, it doesn’t do much for me, although it does have its moments. As you would expect from Weather Report, the music is funky and a bit more aggressive than what we’ve heard so far.

The Gipsy Kings are a group of flamenco, salsa and pop musicians from Arles and Montpellier in the south of France, who perform in Andalusian Spanish. Although group members were born in France, their parents were mostly gitanos, Spanish gypsies who fled Catalonia during the 1930s Spanish Civil War. They are known for bringing Catalan rumba, a pop-oriented music distantly derived from traditional flamenco music, to worldwide audiences. The group originally called itself Los Reyes.
