What separates The Jackie Mittoo Showcase from his other albums of this period? Very little. In fact, one could understandably have difficulty distinguishing this from his other late-'70s releases. Jackie Mittoo was one of Jamaica’s best pianists and organists. He became popular when he was a keyboard player for the iconic Skatalites band in the 1960s was also a composer, arranger and producer for Studio One, owned by Sir Coxsone Dodd. His keyboard artistry can be heard on recordings by Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, the Heptones, Delroy Wilson and Alton Ellis.
