The Pretty Toney Album is the fourth studio album by American hip hop artist Ghostface, a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. The album was released on April 20, 2004, by Def Jam Recordings. It is the only album from the artist to be released solely under the title of "Ghostface" ("Killah" is entirely omitted in any reference to his name on the packaging), but it is otherwise a normal Ghostface Killah release in line with the rest of his catalogue.

The Pretty Toney Album has a lack of Wu-related references on it. It's Ghostface's album entirely and all the better for it. It's partly a party album like 2001's Bulletproof Wallets, but freer, more inspired, and tempered with pure street tracks that were missing last time round. Perhaps feeling the lack of hood interest for his last album, Ghostface puts a handful of Pretty Toney's hardest tracks at the beginning as if he's ready to prove something right away. The best of the lot, "Metal Lungies," could be the theme for any aspiring mack, but the rest. Get them all and you might be able to piece together a classic Ghostface album. Pretty Toney comes close, very close, and puts the man's solo career back on solid ground.

Summary: The former Wu-Tang member's fourth solo album (and first since ditching the "Killah" portion of his name) features contributions from Missy Elliott, Jadakiss and RZA. Record Label: Def Jam. Genre(s): Rap.

The Pretty Toney Album" is an excellent album from Ghostface. If you're used to hearing how Ghost sounds, this album should be no different. I always admired Ghostface for his skills behind the mic since he appeared on "The Cuban Linx Album". This album still shows that Ghost can still hold his own down, and I recommed that you check this one out. Lyrics: A. Production: A. Guest Appearances: A. Musical Vibes: B+. Overall: A.

Yet, The Pretty Toney Album remains incredibly on-target otherwise, with uniformly stunning production work that feels like a ramshackle Blueprint. From the short sample chop and four-bar horn flourish of "Be This Way", to True Master's paused piano and fuzz saxophone drum stomp on "Biscuits", to the fear-soaked, twisted-horn chase music of "Run", Pretty Toney evokes hip-hop's storied past even while its polish and gloss reveal its 2004 release date. Expectedly, minor shortcomings hold the record back from classic status.

Talk about Ghostface - The Pretty Toney Album

Mall
“The Pretty Toney Album” is living proof that soul is the godfather of hip-hop. This LP is a hip-hop heads favorite dream if your into pure emotion from the instrumentals to the verses delivered over them. The intro throws the listener into Ghosts’ decadent world as he dodges paparazzi over Emile Haynie’s most deafening instrumental as the bass booms then we are taken right into “Biscuits” with the most infectious of hooks graced over a trunk rattler with keys that stab like kitana swords wielded by Leonardo himself. “Holla” is another highlight that re-creates the Delfonics “La-La-La” into a warning track for whoever is brazen enough to step into the path of Ghost or the listener. “Tush” is typical Missy Elliot, not so amazing on this record as she goes to feMC bread and butter pornographic topics, but what makes the song listenable is the fact that it is over a glossy soul sample revived for her and Ghost to trade bars over. “Metal Lungies” is more menacing and believable than anything 50 spit on “Dont Need Em” and the Wu-Block rampage continues on “Run (Remix)” in where the verses over this RZA instrumental paint such a paranoid picture when the track is over one can only expect a knock on their door. “Tooken Back” paints ...
