In 1969 he reached the charts as a performer, with his group, the Charles Randolph Grean Sounde, doing a version of Robert Cobert's "Quentin's Theme" from Dark Shadows. Billboard pop, easy listening. Charles Randolph Grean was born Oct. 1, 1913, in New York and grew up in Mount Vernon, . He began his career playing string bass in dance bands on cruise ships and in Catskill Mountain resorts in the 1930's. Mr. Grean became the head of pop artists and repertoire at RCA Victor in 1950.
