Morbus Chron - Sweven flac album

Morbus Chron released their debut album Sleepers In The Rift three years ago and quickly got recognition and universal praise for their relentless death metal that had more resemblances with the American scene, early Autopsy in particular, than the Swedish one. It was a breath of fresh (or putrid, perhaps?) air and I enjoyed that album immensely. To call Sweven experimental would not be entirely accurate as I don't get the impression that they are experimenting on this album - to me, it sounds as if they know exactly what they're doing. If there's a genre called psychedelic death metal, then this album fits right in there. This atmosphere of the album is perfectly synchronised with Fred Estby's production - the guitar sound is organic with only slight distortion and Robert's voice sounds like tormented, painful screams from the deepest tracts of Hell.

Morbus Chron's Sweven is a record that only comes once in a lifetime. It's as innovative as it is exceptional and is presented with a staggering vision that can only result from complete clarity of intent. Whether it's the mournful dirges of the closing tracks or the raw aggression of the meat of the album, Morbus Chron have set a standard by which death metal from this point out can, and should, be held against. Sweven is a monstrous journey through the depths of the endless void and manages to stay completely surprising from start to finish.

Morbus Chron was a Swedish death metal band from Stockholm. It was named after a misspelling of the disease Morbus Crohn. The band was founded by Robert Andersson (vocals/guitar), Edvin Aftonfalk (guitar) and Stefan Johansson (drums), who were teenagers at that time. They were joined by Adam Lindmark (bass). Johansson left the band and Lindmark switched to the drums. Dag Landin was added as new bassplayer. The band released one demo before publishing their debut EP Splendour of Disease in 2010.
